Technical baseline

Materials, cores & lay

Materials

Iron (low strength), Traction Steel, Plough Steel, Improved Plough Steel (EIPS / EEIPS). Galvanised or electro zinc-coated wire for corrosion protection.

Cores

Fibre core (Sisal, Manila, Hemp, Jute, Polypropylene), Asbestos, IWRC and WSC. Steel cores resist crushing; fibre cores add flexibility.

Ropes are supplied preformed as standard. Non-preformed rope available when specified with the order. Regular lay offers better stability and crush resistance; Lang's lay offers greater flexibility and abrasion resistance but must have both ends fixed.
